Tour the Granary and see the process for developing a LEED Gold building.
This
16,000 s.f. adaptive re-use project is set on a narrow site bounded by the
Union Pacific Railroad and a bourgeoning town. On this plot, a grain
storehouse was abandoned after decades of declination in agricultural
industries. The architects resolved to preserve this piece of the City’s
past, while creating a new gateway to the downtown.
Using LEED™
criteria, the architects focused their efforts on material reuse, energy
efficiency, water conservation, and natural lighting and ventilation, while
maintaining an awareness of the original structure.
Come experience a free tour of the Granary and learn about the history of the building and the methods the designers used to bring it back to life as a sustainable cornerstone of Morgan Hill's downtown.
About the Architects: Weston Miles Architects is known for their versatility and innovative approach to design, using strategic approaches and processes for continuous improvement that deliver new architectural solutions. In 2006, their office, The Granary, was awarded the California Redevelopment Commercial Project of the year. In 2009, they were awarded the National ICF Builder Award for 2008 at the Concrete World Convention.

The Granary is a LEED Gold certified sustainable office, commercial, and warehouse facility located in Morgan Hill, California. This renovated historical landmark is a bustling environment for modern and conscientious businesses. The Granary is also a popular host site for downtown events such as Earth Day, yoga classes, urban orcharding workshops, and green building tours.
The solar panels on our roof generate almost 17,000 kWh a year!
